Rabbi Stanley Coten

After completing studies at Sunderland and Ohr Sameach, (Jerusalem) Yeshivas, ordained from the then Jews College, London (now London School of Jewish Studies).

Other qualifications are a Masters in Hebrew & Jewish Studies; a First in Politics; and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

Stanley is a Principal Examiner for Religious Studies; an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors and a Cycling Instructor.

Prior to becoming the Rabbi here, in 2004, he was at Shepherd’s Bush & Fulham; Potters Bar then Kingston Synagogues.

In addition, he is the Rabbi for Norwood which helps families with challenges relating to their children, those with Special Educational Needs and Adults with learning difficulties. He tutors the GCSE, AS and A Level Judaism course and I also conduct distance learning by phone or email.

Stanley is married to Rosalind and they have three sons, and a daughter who is at Hasmonean; one son learning in Kolel (Higher Talmudic Studies) and two married sons – one at Yeshiva in Israel with our grandson and another in London with our granddaughter.

Hobbies include cycling, playing the Keyboard/Piano listening to a range of Jewish, classical and Jazz music, reading history and non-fiction books.
