rabbi I am married to Rosalind, who is the Head of the Research Team for the London Beth Din Kashrut Guide, has with four children.

I was ordained from the then Jews College after completing Yeshiva studies at Sunderland and Ohr Sameach in Jerusalem. I have a first degree in Politics from Queen Mary, London University a Masters in Hebrew and Jewish Studies from Jews College and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the Institute of Education, London University. I am also a Principal Examiner for Religious Studies and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors. As well as that I am a Cycling Instructor, generally I teach cycling in school holidays or by arrangement to children or adults.

Previously at Shepherd’s Bush and Fulham, Potters Bar, Kingston Synagogues. I have had a wide range of experience in Education at Primary and secondary Level. I am a Pupil Support Teacher I teach in what is called Alternative Education, teaching children who are out of school. The tuition is to prepare them to return to school or continue their education in a more informal setting.

During the week I am available for the members of the Shul by computer and I am in frequent touch with the members and the lay leaders to deal with matters as they arise. I teach privately whether Bar mitzvahs, Bat mitzvahs or any other aspect of Jewish studies.

Since I am an associate of many different establishments there is no exact same week. However Sunday I have been assisting the community in Southend to establish a GCSE RS Judaism course and faceting teaches in the delivery of the curriculum, then I may have a number of pupils to tutor whether it be GCSE, or A levels RS since I offer a range of units I teach I can have a number of different things being taught. I also offer distance learning, teaching by email or phone, I have been teaching someone in Brighton over the phone. So there are always email queries to deal with from pupils.

Towards the end of the week, I like to email those on my list information about the Shul, a Torah thought with information like service times and community news. That way I am in touch with a range of people covering a wide area.

I like the responsibility my role brings, to take forward the tradition that we’ve received from Sinai and to see it passed on to the next generation. There is also the satisfaction of helping people in need.

As for my hobbies I enjoy cycling: I went to Northern France in the summer with one of my sons and a friend of his. I like enjoy the countryside. I listen to Music: Classical, Jazz. I enjoy reading about ideas that have changed the world.
