Martin Taffel - Senior Warden:
I first became involved in community work in the late 1940s, when, although not Sephardi, I was persuaded to take a role, first as treasurer and then chairman, of the youth club at Holland Park Synagogue. During my term of office I collaborated with Lauderdale Road in establishing a Sephardi Youth Organization. On moving to my present address in May 1954 I joined Ruislip Synagogue. On the formation of the Functions Committee in the mid 60s I served for a year as treasurer and then for a period as chairman. In 1969 I was elected to the Board of Management, and over the years served in various capacities, such as member of the Education Committee
and Ruislip Revue editorial committee. In recent years I have been entrusted with the duties of an Honorary Officer of the Synagogue, and have endeavoured to discharge these to the best of my ability. My aim is to further the development of the community with the assistance of my co-H.O.s, Rabbi, members of the board and individual members, without whom nothing can be achieved. Ivor Berke - Warden: ![]() Ivor Berke has been a member of Ruislip Synagogue for many years and has always taken an active part. He has been a lay reader for many years and has been a warden since 2005. Martin Feuer - Financial Rep: Martin Feuer moved to Ruislip with his wife Angela from Kenton in 1988, after their three
children left home. In 1994 the then two honorary officers of Ruislip Synagogue requested
Martin to join them as the third honorary officer, which is a requirement of the U.S. to
have a minimum of three honorary officers in an affiliated Synagogue. Martin Feuer took
up the position of Financial Representative which he has done ever since. Martin Feuer
believes that in his appointment as the F.R. he has been charged to look after Synagogue
members monies, and he is doing this by carefully monitoring all expenditures, ensuring
no unnecessary expenditure is incurred and trying to collect all dues from members as
soon as possible. The purpose of these controls is to ensure that membership fees are
kept at a level which will encourage Jews to join the family of the United Synagogue and
not move over to other branches of Judaism.Barbara Hutchinson - Administrator:
As administrator of the Synagogue I have been assoicated with Ruislip Synagogue for over
52 years. I joined in 1956 with my parents and at that time we had a very vibrant Youth Club.
In the past I have been chairman of the Ladies Guild and Wizo and am still taking an active part in the running of the Synagogue. I am on the Board of Management and also on the catering committee with Andrea and Esther.
